Results - Grand Final (14 September)

WOWEE... What a day.

The Under 18's started the 2019 SF&NL Grand Final day with a bang opening their account up with a 5 goal first quarter to take a handy 16 point lead into the first break before Mildura pegged them back in the second. The second half saw a hard fought game as both sides threatened to break out and take a stranglehold on the game. Unfortunately for the Kangas it was the Demons that found the big sticks on multiple occasions and in quick succession mid way through the fourth to push out to a three goal lead, which our boys were unable to peg back before the siren sounded.

Over on the courts it was a different story with the A Grade netball girls taking a 2 goal lead into the quarter time break. Physically contested netball was being played at both ends of the court, but the Kanga girls continued to remain composed as they pushed the lead out to as much as 7 during the third before rounding out the match in style with a 6 goal win and claiming the Kangas first SF&NL Netball Premiership cup in our short history.

With the A Grade Premiership locked away and heading back down the Calder, the B Grade girls had witnessed what Premiership glory looked like and you could see the desire in their eyes to bring a second cup home for the day. Both the first and second quarters saw tight and tough battles with the Kangas taking one goal leads into the first and second quarter breaks. A change in the defensive end at half time brought on some fresh legs and from their the Kangas didn't look back and they extended their lead out to 8 at three quarter time. Instructions from the coach at break would have been not to panic and to keep our centre passes. Irymple attempted a late charge, but to our girls credit, they once again steadied and held on for a wonderful 5 goal win.

Coach Dean give his Under 18 charges their final instructions before heading into the last quarter.
